Yahoo Avatars
Lately I have been seeing lots of people using cartoons of themselves on websites, forums, and social networks. Pretty much everywhere on the internet. I thought it would be fun to create a cartoon avatar of myself. Then I could be slim and athletic and at least 10 years younger to everyone I meet on the internet.
I saw that Yahoo had an avatar creator, so it sounded like a good place to get started. To create an avatar on Yahoo, first you have to create an account. I already have an account to that step was easy. If I didn’t already have an account, I probably would have not gone any farther.
I spent a good 10 or 15 minutes creating my avatar. Short brown hair, medium toned skin. Green eyes. (I’ve always wanted green eyes!) No choice on body style, skinny it is! Then I had to dress my avatar. I have recently started rock climbing (indoor for now) so I set my avatar up with climbing gear and mountains in the background. Then I find another set of buttons where I can change my avatars mood. Fun! I go from neutral to happy because my avatar is excited about climbing those mountains behind her! Then I click save, so I can share it with everyone here. No such luck. I can’t save my avatar to my computer. I don’t even get a link. My real life mood goes from contented to annoyed. It turns out I can only save my avatar on Yahoo, and I can only use it on Yahoo messenger services. Well, that’s not going to do me any good. I don’t use Yahoo messenger. So I just wasted 15 minutes of my time creating an avatar I can’t use anywhere.
What do you think about cartoon avatars? Do you have one, would you like to share? Do you know a place where I can create a cartoon avatar for FREE that I can actually use?

I was hoping you’d tell me how to make an Avatar. I’d love to have one. Actually, I do have one on Facebook.
If anyone tells you how, please let me know.

Thanks Ferox! You are so right. Some days I don’t know where my brain goes. I also use ScribeFire almost every day to get the pics for the blog. No reason why it wouldn’t work with the Yahoo avatars also! Thanks for pointing it out!
