I Need a Hero!

what-would-batman-do.png I am sure you have heard the question, “What would Jesus do?”. I have a book called “What would Buffy do?”(Besides slay vampires) and now I have found the blog, “What would Batman do?” I like super heros, I really do. I think the world could really use a real hero, but until we can find one, we will have to make do with Marvel comics.

I like this blog because the blogger does not limit himself to just one “version” of Batman. The blog contains Batman fan videos made by independent studios, batman art created by batman fans, and we also have reviews and commentary on the major Batman movies.

Oh dear, reading the blog I find I may have made a major faux paux. Batman is not a Marvel comic! Sorry, my bad. I learned this in the post Art Appreciation Day: Batman vs . This post is great in that it has artwork by different artists showing Batman fighting various Marvel comic characters.

The blog is not all Batman, occasionally the blogger brings in other characters. In Chun-Li vs Wolverine our Bat fan asks us:

if either Chun-Li, the Street Fighter goddess, or Wolverine, the ragin’ Canuck, crossed the space-time continuum (a la Darth Vader and Yoda in Soul Calibur IV ) and were forced to fight each other to the death in an epic battle with music composed by John Williams, who would come out on top?

I like the blog’s layout and color scheme. It is black and dark, like you would expect a Batman fan blog to be, but the text area is white and so it is easy to read. There are lots of vidoes and pictures, but the blog loaded fast for me. One thing I don’t like about the blog is that the text is tiny. Even the post titles look to be about a 10 point font at best.

Overall this is an entertaining blog. I am not a huge Batman fan, but I do like my occasional comic book hero. You know, the one that kills the bad guy (honorably), gets the girl, and saves the world all while overcoming an ethical or emotional challenge. If I spend much more time reading this blog I might become a real fan! Now I am off to vote for Chun-Li. I think she is way more cool than Wolverine, especially with the John Williams music playing!

Create An Avatar

Published by ~Kat~ under Blogging Tools Edit This

I wrote a post earlier about my frustration with trying to create a Yahoo avatar that I could take with me and use all over the web. Since then I have been looking at all the different places where you can create an avatar, and giving them a try.  I thought I would share a few of them with you.

This first avatar was created at Doppleme.com . I had to do a quick registration, but then it was just a matter of a few clicks and I had my avatar. Doppleme.com then offers you a variety of ways to link to or save your avatar.

Back to my frustration with Yahoo Avatars .  Well today I went back, created my avatar, and then used Fireshot to get a screen shot. I gave it a quick crop and here you go.  This will be the only place you will ever see me in an itsy bitsy teeny weeny yellow polka dot bikini.

My favorite creation was made at meez.com. I spent quite a bit of time on this one. There were tons of choices for body style, hair, backgrounds and outfits. I am really happy with the avatar I ended up with.

So there you have it. Three places you can create an avatar for yourself for free. Let me know if you create an avatar. It would be fun to have a posting on my reader’s avatar creations!

The Quirky World of Jessi

Published by ~Kat~ under Entertainment, Funny Edit This

baconcup.jpgDo you know what toastvertising is?  No? How about a bacon cup?  Have you ever seen one of these? Have you ever eaten one of these? If your answer is no, then you need to read 5 more of my posts, and then hop on over to The Quirky World of  Jessi .  (Don’t ask why you need to read 5 more posts, you just do! Keep arguing with me and I’ll make it 10!)

The Quirky World of Jessi is about whatever Quirky Jessi finds interesting or strange.  It is another one of those blogs where I use up so much time “researching” the blog that I don’t have as much time as  I would like to write the review.  I wasted a whole 10 minutes trying to Eat The Pie .  (Ok, the reason you need to read 5 more of my posts, is once you go to Quirky Jessi’s blog you will find so much to read there that you won’t have time to come back to my blog and I’ll be jealous!)

Jessi has been blogging for awhile. There are posts on the blog going all the way back to 2006. And not just a few. There are well over 100 posts per year so you know that Jessi might be quirky, but she has a lot of experience blogging.

I like Jessi’s blog because it is funny and entertaining, and it gives me lots of ideas of other blogs and websites to review.

I only have one complaint.  Too much blue!  The blue text on blue background is hard for me to read.  (I know that my vision isn’t the best, but this is all about what I think!) If you want to keep the quirky colors try a darker and deeper shade of blue for the text, and maybe go a shade lighter for the background.

But even if she doesn’t change the colors I’ll be back for more of the Quirky World of Jessi.
