Tips for Getting a Free Review From Review Me Today

Published by ~Kat~ at 11:53 pm under Blogging Edit This

Since starting this blog just less than a month ago I have received lots of requests for blog reviews. I have tried to accommodate everyone, but I am  finding that it just isn’t possible!  There are only 24 hours in a day, and I can only use one or two of them for blogging.  So unfortunately, not every blog that requests a review will get one.

A Little Background

I started Review Me Today because I like blogs. I like to blog and I like to read blogs. I also like giving my opinion! I still love it when I give someone a suggestion and they take my advice! I also don’t mind when people disagree. That is what makes life interesting. I started this blog to share my opinions about other blogs, and to hear what others think about my opinions. It seems to be working. Traffic is growing steadily, and in less than a month this blog achieved a page rank of 3! None of my other blogs have ever done that. Of course, with more popularity, comes more review requests.

Selecting Blogs to Review

At first I was reviewing everyone that asked, and even some that didn’t ask. When I find a blog I really like, especially if it is somewhat unknown, I will put it at the top of the list to be reviewed. Then I look at my requests.
Here are the things I look for when deciding which blogs to review.

Is there actual content on the blog? If all I see is ads, I go somewhere else. For the most part I want to see posts of more than 20 words! If, like on one blog I looked at today, three of the posts on the front page are “sorry I haven’t posted more often” posts, I’m going to pass. I am looking for blogs that others will find interesting.

How many posts are on the blog?
It doesn’t make sense to review a blog that only has three posts. You need to have enough content so I can get a feel for what your blog is all about, and how you come through as a writer. Just in general I would say a blog should have a minimum of 10 posts before you request a review.

Are there any extra features that my reader’s might find interesting?
If your blog is a do-follow blog I will be more interested in reviewing it. If you have some tools or information that is very useful to my readers I am more likely to review your blog. If you fit into one of my categories that people (and Google) are searching for (hint: do-follow, Entrecard) I am more likely to do a review for you.

Are there some popular blogs that you would like to see reviewed, or do you know of a great but unknown blog? Please let me know!

I’d like to think it qualifies as “Great but unknown”; I can guarantee you the unknown, at least.
